Frequently
Asked Questions
How long does it
take to get an appointment?
Typically 2-4 days, sometimes sooner. During the holidays, especially
November we will get fully booked early, try to call ahead as soon as
possible to get your preferred day for service.
Do you move furniture?
Yes most furniture can be moved during the cleaning process, we ask that
you have all the small breakables removed before our arrival, also any
small items and live plants can be moved to a kitchen or bath area whenever
possible.
Pianos, large entertainment
centers, full china hutches, cannot be moved. All beds and other larger
pieces are taken on an individual basis.
How often should
my carpet be cleaned?
The majority of carpet manufacturers recommend carpet cleaning by a professional
carpet cleaning firm such as Knight's Carpet Care every 6-12 months. The
time frame may vary with individual needs such as children or pets, which
usually require that carpet be cleaned more frequently.
What method does
Knight's Carpet Care use?
We use the Hot Water Extraction method. The water in our truck mounted
equipment reaches temperatures of 230 degrees Fahrenheit, helping to loosen
the majority of soils. These soils can then be removed with the high vacuum
generated by this same machine. The best equipment in the business and
our exclusive 10 step carpet cleaning process make us one of the best.
Dry Cleaning also available (bonnet cleaning).
Why does Knight's Carpet Care use this method?
Hot Water Extraction is the method of choice by most carpet manufacturers
because of its greater effectiveness for removing soils and leaving your
carpet looking its best.
How long will it
take for my carpet to dry?
It normally takes 2-8 hours for the carpet to feel dry enough to walk
on, but is typically not completely dry for 12 hours. This will vary mostly
depending on which type of carpet fiber you have. Our efficient truck
mounted machines will remove most of the moisture.
You can walk on the
carpet right after cleaning, provided you wear socks or some kind of foot
covering to keep oils on your feet from getting into the damp carpet.
We can also do a "dry cleaning" process, if you prefer, Call
for details.
How can I keep
my carpet looking good?
Vacuuming your carpet thoroughly every week will make a major difference
in maintaining your carpet. Fact is that 80% of the soil in your carpet
is of the loose, insoluble type.
I've heard it is
best to put off having your carpet cleaned as long as possible - is this
true?
No. In fact, many of the major carpet mills today recommend professional
cleaning at least once per year. The build up of soil in your carpet in
combination with foot traffic creates abrasion that breaks down your carpets'
fibers. The higher the traffic in a given area, the more the carpet will
need cleaning.
